Short Bio:
Hi! My name is Hilary. I graduated from Princeton in 2014 with a degree in Economics and minors in Spanish and French. I’ve tutored since high school in a variety of subjects, including math, English, writing, standardized test prep, science, college counseling, effective study habits, and more. As a Princeton alumni interviewer, I interview high school applicants and guide students through the college application process.
As a tutor, Peer Academic Adviser in college, Peer Coach Mentor at work, and an Alumni Career Adviser, I derive great satisfaction in mentoring others and helping them achieve higher levels of success. My biggest joy as a tutor is enabling my students to reach the “Aha” moment, where the concept clicks and they are able to apply their knowledge to solve other types of problems. I make learning a fun and enjoyable experience through innovative teaching and review methods, active engagement, and positive reinforcement. I tailor my techniques to the individual needs of my students and ensure that they leave each session with a clear understanding of the material reviewed. My enthusiasm, encouragement, patience, and support enables my students not only to improve their grades and test scores, but also achieve higher levels of self-confidence and satisfaction from their academic performance. My goal is to help each individual realize his/her full potential and develop an appreciation for learning and intellectual curiosity.
I’ve worked in economic and federal consulting, and I’m pursuing a career in Human Resources and Human Capital Leadership. In the future, I plan to receive an MBA and continue my passion for promoting professional development, employee engagement, and diversity/inclusion efforts within the corporate setting.
In my free time, I am very active in the community. I plan volunteer and social events on behalf of the Princeton alumni association of DC, and I enjoy playing sports such as tennis, softball, rock climbing, biking, hiking, and kayaking. I also like to cook, bake, paint, and organize get-togethers with friends.
