Laura began developing her teaching style at the age of 12 while teaching literacy to her younger sister. By the time Laura graduated high school, her 8-year-old sister was reading on a seventh-grade level. Watching her sister learn to read over six years of nightly instruction was what inspired Laura to begin tutoring.
Having attended an underfunded public school that did not see many students apply to selective colleges and universities, Laura spent much of her time in high school researching college admissions and the art of crafting an appealing application. Since entering college, Laura has received training as a volunteer essay coach, a position in which she has helped low-income high school juniors craft admissions essays for applications to elite colleges.
Balancing patience with discipline, Laura has helped students, ranging from young children to undergrads, improve their reading speed and comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, standardized test scores, and essay writing.
In her free time, Laura likes to create hand bound journals, sculpt dolls from clay, and explore interesting parts of Philadelphia with friends.
