Before joining The Ivy Team, I worked 2 full summers for a tutoring company during college and also tutored independently for a few years after graduating. My tutoring style is very adaptable, but I am a strong believer in learning through doing practice questions. This is because while knowing the concepts is important, it is often just as important to learn test-taking strategies. I like to give my students the opportunity to showcase their strengths as well as pinpoint their weaknesses during the first couple of sessions through diagnostic tests. Each subsequent session is then usually focused on one particular area of weakness. This systematic and personalized strategy has been very successful in the past, leading to very rapid increases in test scores and allowing the student to reach his/her full potential. Seeing the resulting growth in the student’s confidence is what motivates me as a tutor. My ultimate goal for each student is to transfer this motivation to the student and allow him/her to apply these strategies to all aspects of their education and life.
I am currently a 5th year student in the MD/PhD combined degree program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I hope to become trained as a physician scientist so that I can both see patients and lead my own research program in the field of cancer immunology and immunotherapy. Outside of school, I enjoy running, going to NYCFC soccer games, cooking, and playing poker.
